Re: Armey vs. Dobson

Joe, Armey and Dobson are clearly in the midst of a skirmish and I agree that Dobson can be heavy-handed. On the other hand, compared to the massive amounts of money that exchange hands through lobbyists in D.C., the comparatively low-financed Christian lobby has little to combat that with other than threats to "march" with their supporters. I don't think it's too smart for Armey, either -- whether he's right about it or not -- to call those that back Dobson "demagogues," especially after the sharply divided controversy over Terri Schiavo.

As for the national Christian Coalition,  I don't think Armey can really cite them to make his case because their influence has become almost nil. They have become a laughingstock among most Christians, at least the serious ones who care about politics and public policy.
