Insurance choice is better and pharmaceuticals save money

From the National Bureau of Economic Research, two important papers on health care and insurance.

• "For the vast majority of employee groups and alternative model specifications, the gains from choice are likely to outweigh potential premium increases associated with a transition from large group to individual pricing."
• Sticking to a prescription drug regimen saves money compared to the hospitalization otherwise needed. It saves $1.14 of hospital cost for every $1.00 of drug cost.
