American literacy continues to decline

According to the National Adult Literacy Survey, literacy among Americans continues to decline. You can read about the numbers (which an education establishment type concedes are embarrassing) here.

The spinmeisters who work for the education establishment will really earn their pay with all the explanations they will come up with to show why the declinining literacy rate is not because schools do a bad job of teaching students how to read and write.
