Biography

In January of 2015 Kory Swanson was named President and CEO of the John Locke Foundation. Prior to being named President of the Foundation, Swanson held the position of Executive Vice President. An experienced think tank executive with over 30 years in the public policy arena — 15 of those with the John Locke Foundation — Swanson has been a central figure in the growth and influence of the organization.

Swanson received his master’s degree in philosophy from Bowling Green State University, and his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law.

The John Locke Foundation was created in 1990 as an independent, nonprofit think tank that would work “for truth, for freedom, and for the future of North Carolina.” The Foundation is named for John Locke (1632-1704), an English philosopher whose writings inspired Thomas Jefferson and the other Founders.
