A thousand times you’ve heard stupid wastes of government money being justified because the funding is already in the budget. Well, the honorable Henderson County Commissioners decided to withdraw $50,000 allocated for the Flat Rock Playhouse. The theater has been seeking more funding since the commissioners did not approve a tax to go explicitly to their bottom line.

Commissioner Larry Young told playhouse leadership something somebody should tell the federal government:

“If you don’t change business plans — if you don’t change your direction — we can’t give you enough money and nobody else can. Therefore, you need to put a board in that makes tough decisions to cut expenses and get them in line with revenues.”
