I was wondering how they would handle the transit center when the Democrat National Convention arrived. No surprise they are moving it to somewhere else for uh …. security purposes.

Everyone here knows that you don’t hang out there, especially after dark, for your own safety. Here are the goings on over the last year within 1300 feet of the center, per the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Crime Mapping tool. Out-of-towners would be sitting ducks for this:

Every major riot incident in recent years has originated from or been tied to the transit center area, and as recent history has shown, these mobs are getting more deadly in Charlotte. In the new era of flash robs, or robberies, beatings and riots planed on Facebook and other social networking sites, the transit center was a disaster waiting to happen.

An example of what the international cameras coming for the DNC could end up filming if CMPD loses control of uptown again

Throw in all the national and international news cameras likely to show up right outside the arena, and you face the potential for anything that goes down at the Transit Center across the street to be caught on tape — and to turn into an international incident.

The question becomes how far away from the center of uptown they put the new temporary transit center.

Prediction: Knowing the uptown crowd, I’m thinking so far away that these people will have to bring their hiking shoes and walk miles to get back in to the center city if they work there … for national security purposes of course. It’ll be sort of the equivalent of shipping the homeless out of town for the weekend, which I wouldn’t put past Charlotte elite.
