Interesting letter to the editor in this morning’s N&R summing up the liberal victory in the Greensboro City Council race:

The tax-and-spend liberals have been re-elected to hold political power for the next two years. You can expect exuberant tax increases within the next six months along with the same old bickering and the same old backdoor politics away from the public eye.

The public has every right to know what is going on behind closed doors. Nobody has a right to keep the decisions made by the council secret. With the election of this new mayor who steadfastly wants to make decisions behind closed doors — and with the election of this same old cast of characters — it looks as if the vast majority of voters decided to sit this election out rather than waste time voting.

Voters need to wake up and vote even if their choice of candidate does not make it to office. Without taking part, they risk losing the voting process, and it is one of the reasons this nation is the greatest in the world.

Emphasis on that last paragraph. The victors assure us they will reach out to all Greensboro citizens, but liberals’ definition of ‘reaching out’ is ambiguous. As I’ve said before, expect a lot of 8-1 votes, especially on funding issues.
