Tow trucks are in the news. It is such a sad profession. I don’t know of anybody who enjoyed having their car towed because they left it in a place that obstructed commerce, or they fell way behind on payments. Regardless, there is a fair amount that towing companies must pay to retrieve vehicles, even if they have to go in the icy cold to do their thing. Gummint, after all, is the only entity that has never lost a round playing armchair The Price Is Right.

By the way, has anybody ever seen a tow-truck operator who wasn’t dirty, dressed in rags, rugged-looking, and about to make you cry because he looked so poor? Yes, I think those debonair AG people deserve to cap the income of those hard-working cusses.

In another towing issue, the Boone Town Council will consider making it illegal to tow an occupied vehicle. Is this a problem in Boone? From one perspective, you wouldn’t want this truck backing up to you as you are idling at a stop light. From another, are shop-keepers too passive-aggressive or monolingual to tell the people to move their cars? Well, suppose not and they do. What leverage will they have? They could say, “Get out of my driveway so I can get this shipping truck off the busy road or – or – or – else!”
