Asheville City Council approved a 12-story hotel for downtown. Plans for the hotel had survived the rest of the design approval process, but they were challenged by a lawyer who didn’t want building shadows on his downtown office. Council agreed with allegations that if one builds in the downtown, one might just risk having to deal with buildings.

The only way I see to satisfy all goals of a minimum square footage, viewshed preservation, airspace preservation, non-disturbance of the underground, and infill development to avoid sprawl – would be to construct imaginary buildings for my imaginary friends mentioned earlier. They also vote.
