Boyd blogs exactly what I was thinking as I read about N.Y. Times article the Iraqi Web archive:

Among the dozens of documents in English were Iraqi reports written in the 1990s and in 2002 for United Nations inspectors in charge of making sure Iraq had abandoned its unconventional arms programs after the Persian Gulf war. Experts say that at the time, Mr. Hussein’s scientists were on the verge of building an atom bomb, as little as a year away.

What?

Come on New York Times, you can’t just stick that line in this story four days before an election and not expound a bit.

I’ll add it was pretty amazing to see the Times, champion for the freedom of information they are, ridicule the Web site while (inadvertently, I assume) making Bush’s case. I don’t see how you read that passage any other way.
