I normally don’t write about things like this. As I mentioned before, crimes are tricky, and I hate the thought of parroting false charges. Unfortunately, I sense a growing trend in atrocities perpetrated by should-be protectors and role models. The following three incidents were all reported in WNC newspapers today. Note: This is not the first time I have had the opportunity to post a list of similar one-day unthinkables.
- An autopsy showed a four-year-old who died from being beaten, lacerated, strangled, and bitten was also more than legally drunk.
- A two-month-old who went to the hospital with a skull fracture and bleeding brain tested positive for Xanax.
- For the past year or two, it seems not a day goes by without a news story mentioning a WNC teacher doing things that can’t be mentioned on a family-friendly site with a student. Today is no different. It seems like there have been at least half a dozen incidents.
