Got pumpkins? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, the 3-D version, is a lot of fun and, surprisingly, really does look somewhat new with the big screen 3-D effects. The filmmakers don’t make as much use of 3-D objects appearing to fly directly at the audience as I recall from some other Disney 3-D (like the Muppet 3-D Adventure at Disney’s MGM park, for example), but the dimensional images on screen do their job and bring the oddball characters and scenery ‘to life.’ I’ve watched the original ‘Nightmare’ quite a few times, as a Halloween fan, so this time I enjoyed paying some more attention to the Christmas elements in the story, and even saw some things I hadn’t seen before.

For fans of Tim Burton’s movies, or Halloween, or just fans of this film, it’s a fun and not very scary (even for kids–at least not the ones in this audience) entertainment. TNBC is around in just a few theaters right now, in good timing for Halloween and beyond.
