The City of Greensboro announced yesterday it will receive over $8 million in grants from the Golden LEAF Foundation, the Rural Infrastructure Authority and Duke Energy to run sewer to the proposed Greensboro-Randolph Megasite, which ostensibly will attract a major manufacturer to the area.

The $8 million grant will go toward the overall $28 million cost of running water and sewer to the area. Gboro assistant city manager David Parrish told the N&R the water line’s design study is 95 percent complete.

Meanwhile, residents in the area are bracing for an eminent domain fight as the route for water and sewer line —not to mention the Duke Energy power lines that will provide electricity to the site —is being mapped out.
