I remember well that night in 1975 when Carlton Fisk hit that ball out of Fenway (but I remember even better Bernie Carbo’s HR that put them in the position to win). However, I’ve moved on to a faster game. My suggestion to John Hood is to forget trying to develop a George Willian obsession with baseball and learn to enjoy THE true Great American Game: lacrosse.

It’s not called “the fastest game on two feet” for nothing. The original Native American name for it was “Little Brother of War,” which tells you something about its intensity. It has the speed of hockey, the hitting of football and the strategy of basketball. If you like games that allow you to take a bathroom break and still not miss anything, you can stick with baseball or soccer. Me, I’ll take lax any day.

By the way, high school lacrosse playoffs begin tonight in North Carolina so it’s a good time to start a lacrosse education.
