Civitas wants to hear your suggestions for patching the anticipated $4 billion gap in the state’s budget for next year. You probably have a few bugaboos on the tip of your tongue. If not, the JLF’s Joe Coletti usually has a lot of sensible ideas. In fact, he was the first person I heard projecting the shortfall would approximate $4 billion. Maybe you can use his research as a springboard, or maybe you would like to send your county a Freedom of Information Act request for a list of its expenditures of state funds. (They probably don’t keep track and will try to charge you for staff time.)
