Trina Thompson, graduate of Monroe College, is threatening lawsuit against her alma mater for failing to get her a job after graduation. This despite the fact that Monroe has, incredibly, been able to successfully assist many of its top graduates with job placement so far.

Ah, but then Trina is not a top student. Trina was a lukewarm student, at best, if college records are any indicator at all, garnering a really ho-hum 2.7 grade point average. She is quick to point out that she did make ‘good’ attendance, and believes it unfair that someone who bothers to show up pretty consistently, then receives an earned C+ average, should not be welcomed eagerly by employers or interviewers. This just because they can also select from hard-working achievers who earned averages in their work close to or at the 4.0 level, and who will likely show up, all the time, on time.

Trina appears to be both a slacker AND a whiner. Based on her record, she promises her future employer a mediocre performance (at best) in exchange for excellent pay and benefits, and wants respect as well!

What an embarrassment and a liability students with this kind of attitude and track record provide to the colleges that graduate them. And finally, Monroe probably ought to be more selective in its admissions, and more stringent in its graduation policies in the future, or or it will have more graduates with a chip the size of the Sun (with apologies to Prelutsky) on their shoulders, and no plan but to insist that others remove it and make everything OK.

Gimme an “L”!
