In the past, the Pope Center has criticized college writing programs that don’t teach students how to write well, but instead indulge in a variety of “progressive” education fads.

There is, however, at least one school where writing hasn’t been turned over to the supposed experts, but is still taught by regular faculty members. That school is St. Lawrence University in New York and two of its faculty members write here about their approach.
