Who wrote this lead to Elizabeth Dole’s press release announcing her co-sponsorship of a bill to lower energy costs:
The Gas Price Reduction Act Goes Far to Combating the Energy Crisis
Am I missing a form of grammar that I’ve never seen before? Is it a typo or just an awkwardly constructed sentence? I realize stuff like this happens, even at this blog, but this is a high-profile Senate race, so you’d think everything would be checked and double-checked.
Here’s my other question, unrelated: Last night, I was (for what reason, I don’t know) watching Keith Olbermann while he was briefly discussing the political implications of the North Korea arms situation with a guy from the Atlantic Monthly, who said President Bush wasn’t doing McCain any favors by “negotiating with evil.”
“That the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, when you’re referring to that particular evil,” Olbermann said.
I’m just not sure what Olbermann meant by that comment. I’d like to think that Olbermann is actually mocking North Korea’s official name, which has nothing to do with the people and most definitely is neither a democracy nor a republic. Olbermann’s a smart guy, so I can’t believe he thinks otherwise. He had to be admitting that North Korea truly is an evil place.
But, considering the fact that Olbermann, on a nightly basis, expresses his belief that President Bush is the epitome of evil, I’ve gotta believe he was taking some sort of shot.
