John Murray, outgoing headmaster at St. David’s School in Raleigh, has a thoughtful and worthwhile piece in today’s Raleigh News & Observer. Murray’s observations on the role of religious training in developing a culture of morality bear thought, perhaps especially in light of Duke’s current situation.

Parenthetically, Barry Saunders took an undeservedly selective swipe at Duke today in his column. In Saunders’ ethical scale Duke falls below, apparently, the high moral and cultural standards exhibited by NCSU, UNC, and even the hypothetical East Hades University.

West Hades supporters (WHU?) are gonna be upset about that one.
