Gary North has just about as much regard for the coercive tactics of labor unions as I do and in this column, he provides some interesting history behind the current strike.

Yesterday, I was on WPTF talking about this strike as well as public sector unions generally. One caller announced his sympathy with the strikers, saying that workers need a big pay increase because New York is such a costly place to live. It clearly hasn’t occurred to this guy that the reason why NY is so costly is because of all the things politicians have done that give costly benefits to special interest groups.
