I gathered from this story in the Henderson Daily Dispatch that the Warren County Board of Commissioners is not exactly an exemplar of cordial and efficient meetings. There?s also the fact that one of the commissioners who tends to butt heads a lot with his colleagues goes by the name of ?T-Bone? Alston.

But then I got to a part that makes a different point:

The next clash followed about five minutes later, during voting to appoint members to the animal control advisory council. After hunter Samuel Ross and veterinarian Amy O’Malley were appointed, animal advocate Susan B. King was nominated.

“Isn’t Miss King a hunter?” Humphries asked. King confirmed that she was.

The commissioner remarked, in a scathing tone of voice, “The problem is, of course, we have one hunter on the board already. We agreed not to have but one hunter on the board.”

Richardson asked King if she was an animal advocate. She replied that she was, having been involved in animal rescue for many years. King was confirmed, 3-2, with Humphries and Lucas opposed.

Afterwards there were more parliamentary maneuvers and miscues. Read the whole thing, as they say.
