Here is a disturbing USA Today story about civil asset forfeiture. The victim this time was the owner of a grocery store in Michigan. Luckily, the Institute for Justice has taken up his case, but there is no guarantee that he will ever get his money back.
Why is it that Democrats who always proclaim their concern for “the little guy” never try to do anything about civil asset forfeiture? And why is it that Republicans who proclaim their dedication to the rule of law and limited government never do either?
