I dropped by the Ninth Street Bakery this morning for a Danish and a cup of coffee. I began going to the bakery when it was in its original location on Ninth Street. Then it moved to classier digs, the building that now houses Elmo’s Diner. Then it went mostly wholesale and moved into what used to be the old Herald-Sun mail room downtown. They have a small retail outlet at that location with some great pastries and some very good coffee. I go there about twice a year now.

Anyhow, there was one customer, a woman, and she and the counter guy were in an earnest discussion about composting. What were the chances?
