Am watching “Ball of Fire“,
a 1941 Howard Hawks movie with Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck. At
one point Stanwyck’s character feigns a sore throat and character actor
S.Z. Sakall allows that her throat does seem a bit rosy. “Rosy?” she says. “It’s as red as The Daily Worker and just as sore.” Ha! You can tell Billy Wilder wrote the screenplay.
