This is a national issue, but it is bothersome. Progressives are arguing, justifiably, that large corporations like the Big Three, turned government into a privately-owned entity. Government cannot honestly claim victimhood, as it put into effect tons of legislation requiring corporations to have accountants and lawyers to navigate the system. As the federal register grows, more lawyers and accountants are needed, and so mom and pop shops are increasingly marginalized. But large corporations have that reputation for getting laws passed to undercut the competition, in exchange for campaign assistance.

The change envisioned would presume to unjustifiably correct the problem by transforming privately-held government into government-held industry. On the campaign trail, our new president made no secret of his support for unions. Soon after his election, the wheels were set in motion to have an auto czar to oversee bailouts of the auto industry. That disappeared, but the push remained to do away with secret ballots for union workers and/or surrender union votes to one voting crony. A couple days ago, the president announced his intentions to increase the amount of stock awarded to unions (a.k.a. their voting crony or the pressure of those with ballot oversight).

Classical liberals are a dying breed. Justice is not to be found by government, which is now answerable only to the tugs on its strings.
