I wrote this last year, and I’m distressed to say that the situation is even more dire. Last year, I noted that the First, Second, Ninth, Tenth, and Fourteenth Amendments have come under assault from within, that the entire U.S. Constitution is being denounced as “evil” by self-appointed intelligentsia, and that even Article One, Section One isn’t safe.

Where we are now is, in the words of the architect of the NSA mass-surveillance system, a “police state.” The statist left under the leadership of someone media proudly proclaimed as a “constitutional law professor” has bypassed the legislative branch to rule by executive branch agency rules and regulations and executive orders, and are daring the judicial branch to stop them. The legislative branch is dangerously passing bills they don’t read (such as Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, and most recently the $1.1 trillion spending bill), and bill writers know it, taking full advantage of such unconscionable dereliction of duty to cram in items not even a marginal defender of American freedom would knowingly allow.

In short, this present combination of an aggressive, unrestrained executive with a messiah complex, a listless, enabling legislature, and a cowed judiciary are ensuring that what we the people are subject to right now is not a government of the people, by the people, for the people.

I wrote last year that

We honor today a man whose vision for American liberty was that it would indeed apply to all; a radical for the American conception of God-given rights that are most decidedly not evil when respected by government, but evil when usurped:

When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The words, the promises, are not evil; they are magnificent. They are our inheritance. These rights are unalienable; that is the guarantee we have inherited, and evil it is to try to revoke it.
