Here’s what Rep. Alma Adams said when asked by the N&R whether or Jim Black should resign as speaker of the House:

“What should Black do?” Adams said when asked about the controversial Democratic leader. I would say what I’ve always said. There’s been no change in terms of Jim Black….I’m going to pass judgment when the verdict is in, and it’s not.”

The answer form Adams’ opponent, Olga Morgan Wright, was more straightforward:

“I think he should resign from his position as speaker of the House,” she said. But when asked whether he should give up his legislative seat, Wright said, “Well, you’re innocent until proven guilty, but as far as being in the leadership and key leader, he should step down.”
