I was telling a friend at work today about a tremendous meal I had two summers ago up in New York in the town of Cornwall. It ranks as probably the best meal I’ve had in the United States. I figured I’d share it with anyone who might find themselves up near West Point, NY, anytime soon.

The place is the Canterbury Brook Inn. It’s situated near a traffic circle at the entrance to Cornwall and actually hugs a brook. It’s patio dining area hangs over the water and on the night we ate there, in July of 2006, the weather was perfect. I had escargots and the classic Wiener schnitzel. It was the best I’ve had outside of Germany. It turns out that the chef is Swiss, and he knew what he was doing.

Stop by if you’re ever up that way.
