The News & Observer’s report on the prospects of the fetal homicide bill in the General Assembly carries this headline:

Supporters: Fetal homicide/assault bill has chance

Ironic, since right now, those who kill unborn babies when they commit a crime against a pregnant woman literally get away with murder and the babies have ZERO CHANCE at life or justice, thanks to the radical pro-abortion lobby that wants it this way. It is a shameful disregard for human life. The fetal homicide bill would rectify this incredible wrong. Just ask Effie Steele of Durham what it’s like to endure this injustice. From the News & Observer:

Effie Steele of Durham lost her daughter Ebony Robinson and unborn grandson Elijah several years ago. Steele said her 21-year-old daughter was nine months pregnant when a family friend killed her and ended her unborn grandson’s life.

“I felt betrayed and robbed when the murderer was not charged with double homicide,” Steele said. “I was flabbergasted because I thought there were laws on the books to protect the lives of unborn children in North Carolina.”

Maybe now there will be, Ms. Steele.
