After twenty years of begging for Medicaid relief and getting it, the association of commissioners hasn’t waited long to push for a new array of taxes. But this just kind of sums up what is likely to happen next.
Paul Meyer, an attorney with the N.C. Association of County Commissioners, told the commissioners that counties should expect future budgets to tighten as the state attempts to cut into property tax bases with tax-relief legislation and a growing push to have counties help pay for road improvements.
What are the attempts that the state has made on “tax relief legislation” that would remotely “cut into property tax bases”????? No matter what happens, the Association will push for more taxing authority and less accountability. They have some wonderful folks over there, but it would be nice to see them push for cost saving, performance enhancing, efficiency improving ideas.
