Here’s the link to the N&O story on David Hartgen’s latest traffic congestion forecast for North Carolina cities.

The N&O wrote 493 words on Dr. Hartgen’s research into the state’s transportation future.

Here’s a quote from that story:

Urban traffic jams will choke North Carolina’s economic growth unless state and local leaders push to unclog city streets and freeways, a UNC-Charlotte transportation professor said in a report released Monday. …

In a review of road conditions and growth trends in 17 cities, he said Charlotte and the Triangle face the worst traffic jams but are not alone.

“We’re actually a very urban state,” Hartgen said in an interview. “People don’t think of us as urban, but we are. Even in relatively small towns, congestion has become quite a serious problem.”

There is no link to The Charlotte Observer story because there is no story. The Observer wrote zero words on Hartgen’s research, research which gives Charlotte a D in traffic congestion relief.

The Observer, however, does find space to describe Hartgen as a Light rail critic while squibbing his upcoming talk to local Republican Women’s Club.

Shhh. Don’t tell anyone I told you.

Update: Here are few other outlets covering a Charlotte expert on Charlotte’s congestion mess, none of which are Charlotte’s only daily paper.
