Not only is it likely that Social Security (maybe we should start putting snicker quotes around that term or else invent a new, really derogatory term for it) will be a campaign issue, but so will health care. Until people are living in perfect health for about 200 years, demagogic politicians will be trying to get elected with promises that they know how to give us better health care. In this article economics professor William Anderson does a stupendous job of attacking the idea that we could all get better health care if only we’d turn it over to the government. Along the way, Anderson mauls Paul Krugman, one of the smarmiest of all pseudo-economists writing today. Worth reading!
