For a while there has been talk of making I-95 a toll road in North Carolina.  Today in the Salisbury Post there is growing speculation on tolling I-85 in Rowan County. According to the article:

The project is now considered unfunded, and
Department of Transportation officials, legislators, economic
developers, emergency personnel and others have lobbied for some
creative way to finance it.

A toll facility has seemed like the quickest option.

Is a toll road between the Triad and Queen City logical or is it just politics? I guess the Highway Trust Fund just wasn’t “creative” enough.
