Have to note that the heartburn in Mint Hill over a new ABC outlet in a shopping center in town seems a little overblown. The ABC store at the corner of McKee and Weddington is in a similar suburban setting in Matthews and causes no obvious problems. The store is in a tasteful brick building and comes in quite handy, say, when the tenderloin you get across the parking lot at the Teeter just cries out for a bourbon-shallot reduction.
As for Mayor Ted Biggers pining for a Starbucks, there is newish Dunkin Donuts in town for your caffeine fix Mr. Mayor. Plus you can roll down 51 to Hoods Crossroads, perhaps in Matthews by a few feet, and there you’ll find a quite superior to Starbucks, in my opinion, Dilworth Coffeehouse going in.
