Bzzt. Fail.

The Queen City lost 2,300 tourism jobs between April 2008 and 2011, dropping to 87,300 such positions from 89,600 three years ago before the onset of the recession, according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data by The Business Journals.

And here’s the dirty little secret about the DNC in 2012 — it will help drive away business, at least in the short-term, and may never really “market” the city to anyone who was not already planning to show up.

So, unless and until Charlotte hits 90K tourism jobs, there is no recovery in that sector either.
