Those glorious, wonderful impact fees and/or real estate transfer taxes. If you haven’t already, pick up a copy of The Rhino Times from last week that provides more details on just how the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County would like to soak taxpayers even more.

Just the 1 percent transfer tax on real estate sales, AKA the family mobility surcharge, would suck another $110 million a year out of the local private economy and route the funds toward the latest Uptown scheme.

Why anyone thinks this is a great idea is a mystery. Wait. No it is not. Makes perfect sense. At the schemes get bigger, the loot required gets larger. Check it out.
