Donna King is the Executive Vice President of the John Locke Foundation and Editor-in-Chief of Carolina Journal, where she oversees strategic initiatives and editorial operations, with a focus on transparency, free markets, and accountable government. A veteran journalist and policy analyst, Donna has built a distinguished career covering politics and public affairs at both the state and national levels.

Her journalism career began in Washington, D.C., where she was a Capitol Hill reporter for Reuters Television and a morning anchor for America’s Voice Television, delivering national political news and analysis during pivotal moments in U.S. history.

Before joining the John Locke Foundation, Donna was a founding member of the North State Journal, and served as the host of WPTF’s “Triangle’s Morning News,” where she led daily news coverage and in-depth interviews with state leaders and policymakers.

Donna is also the host of Carolina Journal’s “The Debrief,” a weekly YouTube show, and a regular political analyst on national and statewide media outlets, including PBS NC’s “Statelines,” providing real-time analysis and interviews. A sought-after speaker, Donna is recognized for her commentary on the influence of women voters and grassroots activists in North Carolina.

Donna is a graduate of North Carolina State University and Saint Mary’s College in Raleigh. She lives in Raleigh with her husband and three children and enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring North Carolina’s rich history and landscapes.
