Julie Scott Emmons is a native of North Carolina and a lifelong advocate for the dignity and value of every human life. Her career spans education, government, political leadership, and public service.
Julie is a 1995 graduate of Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, where she earned a B.A. in History with teacher licensure. She later completed an M.Ed. in Special Education/Learning Disabilities from Elon University in 2000.
After 17 years in education—including teaching at both the K–12 and university levels—Julie ran Congressman Mark Walker’s successful congressional campaign in 2014 and went on to serve six years as his District Director and Deputy Chief of Staff. She continues to advise candidates at the local, state, and federal levels.
Julie currently serves as South Regional Director of Government Affairs for Human Coalition, one of the largest pro-woman, life-affirming organizations in the nation. She believes good policy takes the whole picture into account, and she brings particular passion to advancing maternal health and empowering women to thrive.
Beyond her professional work, Julie serves on the Alamance Community College Board of Trustees and is a member of the Steering Committee for the NC Leadership Forum. She is also the founder of Newlin Group, LLC, a strategy and policy consulting firm.
