Patrick Medley is the digital video producer for the John Locke Foundation, where he creates video content for John Locke, Carolina Journal, and NC250.

Born in Hawaii, raised in Wisconsin, and shaped by his early adult years along Colorado’s Front Range, Patrick brings a wide-ranging perspective to his work—one he uses to break through communication barriers and make complicated subjects easy to understand. A documentary filmmaker, editor, and cinematographer, he has filmed across the country, from a kayak on Oregon’s Columbia River to shipwrecks off the North Carolina coast, with work featured on HBO Max, Discovery+, Tubi, Prime, PBS, and more.

An award-winning editor and director, Patrick is a multidisciplinary storyteller with a passion for wildlife, history, science, and the outdoors. He is proud to bring that same storytelling instinct to the John Locke Foundation, helping elevate the ideas and journalism that matter to North Carolinians.
