One of the biggest untold stories about COVID-19 in North Carolina is still ongoing. For the past four weeks in a row, active cases in NC have been falling. Meanwhile, there have been more presumed recoveries from COVID-19 than new known cases.

  • There are only 15,419 active cases of COVID-19 in NC — down 2,156 from last week (active cases are known cases minus deaths and recoveries).
  • Active cases are at their lowest level since June 22.
  • 87.8 percent of NC’s known cases of COVID-19 are presumed recovered.
  • That’s seven out of eight cases.
  • There are 8.3 times more people who’ve recovered from COVID-19 in NC than who have it.

  • Total known cases: 145,516 (up 8,672)
  • Total deaths: 2,348
  • Total recoveries: 127,749 (up 10,780)
