Readers scanning National Review Online Thursday morning spotted a lead story from John Locke Foundation Fiscal and Health Care Policy Analyst Joseph Coletti. Coletti’s column focused on the personal impact of health-care reform proposals under discussion now in Washington, D.C. Coletti also discussed a pricing change for state employees’ health premiums — misidentified as a “fat tax” — in a recent post at StateHouseCall.org. In addition to Coletti’s article, JLF President John Hood continued to contribute to NRO this week, with blog entries on terrorist funding for “The Corner” and global warming alarmism for “Planet Gore.” Meanwhile, Hood offered the Greensboro News & Record a skeptic’s take on the claim that federal stimulus dollars have “created or saved” thousands of North Carolina jobs. A recent column in the Franklin Times also cited a Daily Journal from Hood that focused on the importance of exposing political scandals. (Hood, who is president of the John Locke Foundation, states that “Ensuring that government operates as openly, honestly, and fairly as possible is more than just a worthy cause. It’s an imperative.” Amen, brother John.) N.C. Senate Republicans also highlighted in an e-mail this week a Daily Journal column from Hood that analyzed recent poll results favoring the GOP. (The same e-mail noted a Carolina Journal exclusive from Associate Editor Michael Lowrey that discusses a recent N.C. Supreme Court ruling linked to gun rights.)
