Activists at the Americans for Prosperity Foundation’s Defending the American Dream Summit in Orlando enthusiastically welcomed Texas GOP Gov. Rick Perry on Friday.

The reception for U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., wasn’t quite as warm as shouts of “No amnesty!” rang out through a hotel ballroom a handful of times during his speech.

The activists part ways with the Florida senator over his participation in crafting an immigration reform plan in the U.S. Senate.
Rubio didn’t mention immigration during his speech. But he did acknowledge hint at there being differences with some in the crowd.

“In this room, there is division on a lot of different issues,” Rubio said.

Some — again a handful — wore pink T-shirts that said “Give Rubio a Pink Slips.” And some booed Rubio at the conclusion of his speech.

Those booing Rubio were vastly outnumbered by those cheering him

Perry, who sought the GOP nomination for president in 2012, didn’t hear any boos when he spoke to the group.

“I challenge you to leave here with a fire in your soul,” Perry said. “America’s future is in your hands.”
