The Herald-Sun reports the N.C. Attorney General’s office has notified Durham police that, after reviewing the case of the now former police officer who received $60,000 in overtime pay, there is not enough evidence to prosecute. The officer’s annual salary was roughly $51,000.

The background on the story is here.

Now to the question of the $60,000. The Herald-Sun reports that City Manager Tom Bonfield said the city has gotten some of the $60,000 back and “a decision has not been made whether or not the city will pursue other legal remedies at this time.”

It sounds as if the city hasn’t closed the file.
