The Chapel Hill town council is again pushing to ban the use of cell phones while driving on town streets. Council members say it’s dangerous. If that’s the criteria, then when will they ban children from cars? I have nearly been hit — multiple times — by people feeding, yelling at, reading to, dressing, singing with, singing to, swatting, dressing, and wiping up after children. If the council believes it is appropriate to use government power to ban dangerous distractions, then their logic should also apply to children. I say leave the government out of it.
