I’ve left the Charlotte Bobcats alone for awhile to see how the great Adam Morrison experiment works out. So far, not so good.

Morrison shot 3-for-16 in a loss to the Pacers last nite. Pre-season has not been kind to Morrison or the Bobcats. Charlotte is winless in five outings. More importantly, the guy the Bobcats should have selected instead of Morrison, big guard Brandon Roy, is looking pretty good in Portland.

Roy is averaging 14 points a game on 44% shooting, compared to Morrison’s 10 points on 31% shooting. Plus Roy is contributing about 5 boards a game, a couple assists, and the odd steal or block. Morrison gives you virtually nothing in those areas — same as he did in college.

And here’s the real scoop — were it not for his high draft selection, Morrison would not be in the Bobcats starting line-up. Both Alan Anderson and Matt Carroll are shooting the ball better and Anderson is a far, far better athlete and defender.

I have to believe that with someone like Michael Jordan in the front office the Bobcats will not continue this course indefinately. Morrison needs to be productive and sooner rather than later.
