Item: Delta Airlines just lost the naming rights to the Salt Lake City arena to nuke waste dump (!?) operator Energy Solutions. Delta Center is now Energy Solutions Arena.
Item: USAir last week made an $8 billion bid to acquire Delta. The merged company would go by the name of Delta and continue to have a large presence in Charlotte, although likely smaller than before.
Item: Charlotte Bobcat Arena is still without a naming rights deal over a year after its kickoff, a big hole in its bottom-line worth millions each year.
Question: Might the new Delta look to throw a few mil at the Bobcats as a way of buying some local goodwill? Stranger things have happened.
