It’s as if on Nov. 7, 2000, Al Gore decided that if he wasn’t going to win the presidency he would take everyone down with him.

First came the legitimacy of the electoral process, which Gore and his lawyers irreparably damaged with their conspiracy theories. Now it’s the world itself that Gore seems intent on destroying. His global-warming scare campaign is ruining world economies and convincing those who actually believe his nonsense that freedom-sucking collectivist remedies are called for.

John Coleman, founder of The Weather Channel and a global-warming skeptic with some actual expertise in climate study, puts it succinctly:

“If Al Gore and his warming scare dictate the future policy of our governments the current economic downturn could indeed become a recession. Drift into a depression and our modern civilization could fall into the abyss. And it would largely be a direct result of the global warming frenzy.

“My mission,” Coleman concluded, “in what is left of a long and exciting lifetime, is to stamp out this global warming silliness and let us all get on with enjoying our lives and loving our planet, Earth.”

Gore has a lot to answer for in helping create the poisoned political atmosphere we now endure. He will have much more to answer for if his climate world view is not challenged and defeated in the court of public and scientific opinion. Both of those are uphill struggles, made more difficult by the peer pressure exerted by believers in Gore’s nonsense:

He says younger weathermen are afraid to speak out lest they lose their jobs. Young scientists are similarly afraid of losing research grants.
