Interpret the actual number any way you want, but the fact remains that the overwhelming majority of those attending Burlington City Council public hearings on annexation spoke put against annexation.

Interesting comment from Charles Hrdlicka, who spoke in favor of annexation:

Hrdlicka said the city is growing up around him and suggested that he and his neighbors just become part of the city.

“We can be part of the solution and not part of the problem,” Hrdlicka said. “Let’s all work together, and it will all work out nicely.”

I guess the question is who’s really part of the problem? Citizens who choose where they want to live, or government choosing where they live?
