hhSee if you can spot the Mad magazine mascot lurking in this very funny bit of cover art from the irreverent comic book.

Mad itself is impossibly ancient as a publication, dating back to 1952, the grim, repressed post-war years of Ike.

But Alfred is — quite unbelievably — decades older than that, dating to late 19th century caricatures of Irish immigrants. Certainly by the 1920s images were in wide circulation which were clear precursors to the “modern” Alfred.

In other words, this is another historic first for Obama. He should be quite proud.

PS — Hint — Look for no evil.
