The Winston-Salem Journal lays into Rep. Virginia Foxx for her “misleading fundraising” tactics:

Twice in recent weeks Foxx has written to her supporters claiming that she desperately needed money because “The Democrats, New York Times and Winston-Salem Journals of the world want to distort my record of conservative and responsive service.” She’s characterized her campaign against Sharpe as difficult……It’s all been for the purpose of portraying herself as a beleaguered and unfairly criticized public servant. It’s been a misrepresentation…….other candidates, including U.S. Rep. Mel Watt, the Democrat who represents North Carolina’s 12th District, also make contributions to try to consolidate their party’s power. The difference is that Watt has not been sending out fundraising letters saying that he’s in a tough political fight and pleading for money to help hold on to his seat.

Again, no mention of the fact that Watt shifted money toward the campaign of Rep. William Jefferson, who’s been playing a strange Washington money game of his own.

The way I see it, whether or not Foxx is deceiving her constituents is in the eye of the beholder. In this heated mid-term election, both parties insist the future of the country is at stake. If that’s indeed the case, then ‘all for one, one for all’ would seem to be a fitting campaign strategy.
